Mochos lies around 400 metres above sea level in the Cretan countryside. Although Stalis and Malia are only a short drive away, the village feels like a different world. Tavernas, a café and the church surround the square, while everyday village life continues through its quiet lanes.

The square is home to Odysseus, Lithos, Kelari, Portego and Taverna Rodamanthis. Every Wednesday evening during the summer season, Cretan Night turns the square into an open-air celebration with live music, traditional dancing and local food.
Walking and local history
Old paths lead from Mochos through olive groves, across mountain slopes and towards panoramic viewpoints. The village also has a Folklore Museum and the Olof Palme Museum, making Mochos a destination in its own right.
